The Mace Games Faqs

The Mace Games challenges you to join a pre-set sports team, or for you to create your own, across the month of July, to help raise funds for the Mace Foundation. We know that everyone has different abilities and interests, so whether you want to join team running, team paddleboarding, or team gym there is something for everyone.

All we ask is that whatever team you choose, you make sure it is safe and a challenge for you, as this will encourage more supporters!

Mace Games will begin on Monday 1 July 2024 and finish on Wednesday 31 July 2024.

You choose your own location. Whether you run around your local park, swim at a local pool or skip in your back garden, it's all about racking up as many minutes as possible, and if you wish, working as a team to do this.

Be sure to use the hashtag #MaceGames2024 across social media and on Yammer to share your photos with us from your journey.

We are asking everyone to raise a minimum of £30 for the Mace Foundation. This could be through fundraising, or by just signing up and paying your £30 to take part. There will be prizes to be won for the top fundraisers, so get your friends and family to dig deep. Find out how you compare to others on the leaderboards.

If you choose the fundraising option when signing up, your fundraising page will be set up automatically. If you have already registered, you can access your page by entering the log in details you supplied when you signed up.

You can share your page with friends and family to let them know you’re taking on the challenge and to encourage them to donate.

Yes, follow the registration link and you will be asked if you would like to create a team, alternatively you can join a pre-set team by searching for them as part of your registration process.

Gift Aid adds 25p to every £1 donated, at no extra cost to the donor. It’s a Government scheme that enables charities to claim this ‘extra money’ from tax that people have already paid.

To allow us to claim Gift Aid, the donor has to be a UK taxpayer and have paid sufficient Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover the amount the Mace Foundation will reclaim in the tax year.

If you are fundraising offline, please make sure you send your sponsorship form to us so we can claim it.

No. If you’re based in the United Arab Emirates it is illegal to fundraise for a charity without approval from the Islamic Affairs. Unfortunately, we have not been given approval for employees based in UAE to fundraise for the Mace Foundation. However, you can still take part in the Mace Games, just sign up to a team, log your minutes, and share your journey.

Please note for those based in Dubai, we have approval to use this campaign page to make donations directly to Dubai Cares. We’d encourage you to donate AED 140,000 to support our ‘Adopt a library’ campaign.

For those who are based in Abu Dhabi, we’d  encourage you to donate AED 140,000 to our charity Operation Smile.

All colleagues who are based in Qatar, Saudi, Oman and Egypt, we do not have permission to fundraise for any charities, so we would advise you to take part still but just track your minutes. This event is great opportunity to network with colleagues, have fun, and keep fit!

Once you have registered, under ‘My Fitness Activity’ you will be able to connect to your preferred fitness app; Fitbit, Strava or Garmin. This will automatically track your minutes. If you do not have a fitness app, don’t worry, you can manually add any activity you have completed by going into your account.
