I am taking part in Become Games to help support children in care and young care leavers.
Around 60% of care experienced young people face mental health difficulties, with many living through traumatic experiences (CYP Health Outcomes Forum).
To fundraise for the charity Become (link below), I will be taking on the challenge of cycling from Manchester to Blackpool (60 miles) on the 12th July! 🚴🐝

Wednesday 8th JulParis: did you know that right now, over 81,000 children in England are in care, many facing constant upheaval and stepping into adulthood far too soon.
Too many end up isolated, struggling to find stability, a home, or a path forward.
- Seven in ten children in care face huge disruptions every year.
- Four in ten step into adulthood alone on their 18th birthday.
- Within two years, one in three will experience homelessness.
- And by 19–21, four in ten are not in education, work or training.

Working with ex-care people is hugely challenging and dear to my heart. Of course, if only institutional care could be avoided: see Hope and Homes for anti-institutional strategies, but 100% success with that cannot be guaranteed.
